This reminds me of what Saragoh bought me on my 16th bday. A softtoy keychain.

Hmm this is a mask to prepare ourselves for the sand storm which is bound to come someday. We are actually looking forward to it. crazy girls.

Will post more cute stuffs soon! Bye!

Photos dumping session:

Forbidden City:

Went to Forbidden city last Tuesday. This is the Entrance, 天安门。 I was there and I took this picture, not from some magazine or newspaper k. It feels kinda wow-ish to be there. =)

We went into the forbidden city at student price - 20 yuan!! Its really humongous.

Its hard to take pictures without bobbing heads. I made it!

Geok. Were the emperors that tall and huge in the past?

Geok took this for me.

me.

This is the garden at Forbidden city. think its call Yu hua Yuan. CROWD.

This is one of the interior. Cant go in.. what a waste, something i am quite disappointed with.

There's quite a bit of renovation going on in forbidden city. And alot of the rooms are still forbidden. dots. And those that are opened for public viewing, either they are really just for viewing (fenced off) OR converted into exhibition rooms. -_-'' But.. overall, worth the visit.

Hutong tour

errr. crap experience. From all the blogs that i read, everyone was saying that hutong tours are worth a try and its really a great experience and stuff. I beg to differ. Its really nothing compared to the alleys around my school! PErhaps tourists do not have the chance to go to such places hence they find it extremely interesting. Hee. So if you are backpacking to Beijing, dont spend money on hutong tours!! go explore around yourself~

Nonetheless these are the pictures:

This is the uncle who kinda KA-ed us

We went to his house for tea. his house is really teeny. something like hall5's TV lounge, or smaller. =X

Yu Yuan Tan:

The next day at Yu Yuan Tan to see Sakura =)

the sakuras are really beautiful

happily snapping for memories

The last line says something like when one look up at the sky, he can see no sky but sakura....

So i looked up at the sky and saw this =X kinda weird...

Kite flying session.

Hee....... i plucked two of them. they are taped to my dear diary now.

Yong He Gong ( Lama temple)

Yong he Gong is a temple cum tourist attraction. The only interesting thing i found is the statue of Maitreya (the future Buddha), 18m (60 ft.) tall, carved from a single piece of white sandalwood. But i couldnt take a picture of it. The guards were eyeing me. ChRong meng caught it though. Can check it out on his blog.

People praying

One interesting phenomenon in China: the kids have some opening in their pants to facilitate pee-ing.

Bravo Ming Xiang caught this when the kid was squatting down. lols

After Yong He Gong, we proceeded to WangFujing:

We saw exotic food at the Food street. Sea horses~

Not sure what they are. Lizards?

hmm some wormy thingy

Last but not lest! Scopions! They were still moving ehs. I tried one but couldnt really taste much of it except the sauce which is the same sauce they used for the MAO DAN. =x

Thats about all for last week. I snapped some photos of my school and its surroundings. Will upload them soon as promised.

funny shit

Pardon me. First, for the freaking unglam title, and second, for not uploading any photos. Tomorrow k, i am very lazzyy now.

Its getting funnier in Beijing. I dont know why.

Funny NO1

Last Tuesday, Geok and I 兴致勃勃地去玉渊潭. Upon reaching, we were still pretty excited. Even bought kites and stuffs. But it was a wrong decision because we wanted the kite flying session to be at the last part of the trip. So it was a hassle for us to carry it around snapping photos. In the end, we hung them on our bags and that attracted quite abit of attention- attention of a professional photographer.
He wanted us to pose in a freaking 诗情画意 manner and the both of us obediently did it, admist laughter. The result is in geok's blog. darn demure.

Funny NO2

On sat, we went to Yong He Gong with a few of our classmates. Think i drank too much water so i needed to go to toilet urgently. And we saw the public toilet. I was thinking, omg, it must be darn disgusting, so i went to check it out first.
I opened the door and saw the toilet bowl staring right up at me. And i thought to myself that "hey, its not as bad as i thought". Its really pretty clean. So i happily passed my bags to my frens and asked them to wait for me.
This time, i opened the door again ( a tad wider) and saw two person staring right up at me. I screamed in disgust and u-turned back to my friends who were all stunned.

Yucks, theres no doors in the toilet.. And everyone was happily doing their business altogether. I almost died. And the thing is, i should have realised that when i went to check it out because the toilet bowl was already staring blatantly at me.....

My classmate told me that they knocked down the cubicles because China has too many people and they want people to be fast. But then Geok said its because they want people to feel awkward to shit in the toilet, so in this way the cubicles are knocked down to prevent people from shitting. ( she has weird thinking, shrugs)

FUNNY NO 3

Went to church yesterday. And i couldnt concentrate once again. This time round, i was totally distracted by a guy during the praise and worship. I know its kinda rude, but i couldnt helped laughing. And when i turned to my left, i realised Geok was smiling tooos. hahah this guy is darn funny, his expression and his legs and omg he is just darn funny when he sings. If he sings again next week, i promise to capture a video of that.
Mingxiang and Mingrong didnt find it funny though. When i demonstrated to them what the guy did, both of them just stared back at me blankly. I think they must be having the is-she-an-idiot kinda thing at the back of their heads.

But it was really funny. Geok and i couldnt stop laughing the whole of yesterday.

satnsun

Its getting colder again. The weather forcast says it feels like -1 degree in Beijing. Very true. I am freezing. Heard that there will be a class outing this Weekend. They call it 春游, kinda looking forward to it. =)

Was supposed to go to Forbidden City on Sat. But due to some unforseen circumstances, it was called off. Geok and I will be going tomorrow instead, although the weather doesnt look that promising. Heck.

Yesterday was fun. Went to church (hee cant really remember what the pastor was preaching about, i was focusing on how good the translator was=x) and had some really really really nice Jap food.

Yumyumm

We accompanied ChRRRRRongmeng (greatly emphasized) to cut his hair at night. In the end, he wanted to do some anti-gravity treatment to his wavy hair, so we stayed there pretty long, entertaining ourselves along the way. I took the chance to practise for my photography modules.

This is call 追随摄影。(HEEHEE =X) those unartistic ones will not understand and appreciate my abstract art.... -_-'' Anyway i shot this with my dummy camera in which i cant adjust shutter speed and f/stop. So... this is good enough ok.

This is something to do with the aperture toos. to make the foreground blur/background clear effect. I shot it with my landscape mode.

This is the opposite of the one above. Shot with macro-mode.

hee. This is Mingxiang. My model for one of my photography assignment. Gotta take human portrait of the opposite sex. And the background must be totally blur. Mine's as clear as crystal. dont know why.

haha i didnt give up. =P

Haha. And Geok got hungry (again) and we went to a very nice Italian Restaurant to get pizza. And i still didnt give up........................... =X

Haha. He is quite patient.

Then, i wanted to practise my 1/1ooosec freezing motion photography assignment. Well you see, this extremely high shutter speed freezes motion. And our demanding tutor wanted us to freeze the motion without jeopardizing the 动感 of the object. e.g. dont let a moving car seems as though it is being parked in the middle of the road. So brilliant me thought of capturing people doing star jump or whatever so that i could freeze the motion when they are in the air. This way, the 动感 will still be there since human cant fly and hence its obvious that they arent "parking" in the air.

This is where happy Geok Shan comes into picture.

First jump

Second jump

Third jump. =X

After about 6 jumps, i realised their legs werent even in the frame. Futile attempts. Sorry for making you two jump like tt in the restaurant. my bad.. =X
-------------------------

K enough of the craps. We shall not neglect the male protagonist of the day- Ng chRRRROngmeng.

Anti-gravity procedure

Heating process. Just like perming.

YEAH! Our newborn chRRRongmeng. I think he looks much better doesnt he! anyways i was still trying to do my blurring effect photography. Lols.

He looks happier here. =)

And lastly, i wanna dedicate this photo to ah geok.

Eventful week

It has been a week plus i guess since i last blogged. Time seems to pass pretty slowly here. Its only the second week but i feel like i have been here for eons. Adapting well and enjoying myself.

I shall start with today and backtrack.

Went to XI JIE 西街 to post something to someone staying at blk 547. =p 西街 nv failed to amaze me with fresh and interesting stalls springing out everytime i go. Today's finding is well, exotic.

We chanced upon this stall that sells fishballs-on-stick-lookalike.

I even told Geok that they were baked sweetpotatoes. I was wondering why they even bothered to shape them into round balls. Silly me, of course they werent sweetpotatoes, the stall owner told us they were 毛蛋。wth.

The next thing i know, Geok started shrieking and her face twisted in chagrin. Then i saw what she was seeing.

This is a close up view. I bought one just to take photos of it.

This is another one! Have you figured out what it is?! Geok said i was brave, i actually took a bite of it. I mean, you gotta try these kinda exotic food that you cant get in singapore am i not right. =X ...... and then

BAH! Figured out le huh! Its hatching chicks! They call it 毛蛋 because the hair is aready developed! It tasted like a eggnchicken combo kinda thing. But i couldnt really take it... bleh, the thought of it still gives me nausea. AND geok refused to even take a single bite. That saint. I chose the one that didnt looked that developed. The one below was even worse, like this.

The beak, the head the eyes. Everything.

Enough of that. I am munching on chips ahoy to fight the nausea now.

Its really very interesting to explore outside the school. Theres a wide array of shops and stalls that range from posh italian and Korean BBQ restaurant to rundown LAMIAN DIAN to boutiques to pubs! PUBS! We found this LALA pub that is like in the middle of nowhere. Went in to take a look and the drinks are real cheap. Like Bloody Mary at 20 rmb. ( HEE ) Didnt take any pictures. You guys can view it over at Geok's blog .

Went to 北门 street to get some stationery yesterday. And there were hell alot of places to explore again. These are some photos that i captured.

Uncle selling some kinda tidbits ( CHEAP)

closed-up

Sugar cane stall. The lil boy in red was very cute. He said he wanna the smallest one in a very cute voice.

We shared one too. This is geok's happy face.

The last discovery of the day was this.. heehee cheap thrill....

-----------

Back to Tuesday. What did we do? Didnt have lessons so headed down to XIDAN again.. =x
That day, I spent 9/10 of my weekly allowance. Had a hair cut at some supposedly high-end salon. The person managed to psycho me into dying my hair full black.

From the front.

From the back.

Was kinda broke, but had to get a cake for Chrongmeng to celebate his bday. We settled for Orange Julius's ice cream cake. It was cheap if you compare it with Singapore's. Not to mention that its darn delicious.

ta-dah!( not very well-taken)

The rest are taken at the party. I may shift to this nice and cozy apartment when geok returns to Singapore. Hee i scared of ghost. =x

The 2 cutest guys in classsss.. Xu Jie and Zhen Xin ( its hard to pronounce his name )

XUJIE! i will laugh everytime i look at him.

I was the photographer at first. But im skill-less, so XJ took over =X

ME!

Talking cock in the room while the rest went to prepare food.

大家, i am having fun in CHINA and i dont wanna come back =p. nah, should be back on 15th July tentatively. Shall see.
Off to bathe!
